Scott Nussbaum is the deputy chairman at Phillips. This is his way of seeing The art of collecting art: I think the most important thing is to take your time. Don’t rush into it. Really learn about art you like and more importantly, art you don’t like. I think that’s one of the critical things. Once you figure out what you don’t like, that’s half the battle right there. But don’t rush into it. Learn, educate yourself, see as much as you can, go to the galleries, go to museum exhibitions, go to the auction houses, and really take in everything and learn. Don’t jump in too quickly.
